Here comes the Sun and Cyclists
After a start to the week that resembled a soggy East Coast Winter, the sun has emerged along with many cyclists. These two lovely girls were crossing the Circle Drive North multi-use bridge this bright afternoon when we met.

Out of Towner: Calgary
Recently I was in Calgary for the 2013 Leading the Way Youth Summit on Sustainable Urban Transportation where I received amazing inspiration and made friends with some terrific people from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Calgary's civic government is seriously attempting to correct its disastrous sprawl through encouraging active transportation and transit, and developing mixed-use neighbourhoods. Above is a photo of 1st Avenue in the mixed-use, transit-oriented neighbourhood of Bridgeland in east central Calgary.
If it rains, she doesn't need an umbrella.
A lady bicycling past "the Fortress" as we called it (in reality known as Century Gardens).
A bright and hopeful bicycle.
Even the mechanics at Calgary's light rail train maintenance facility get around on bicycles. Is that cool or what?
Congratulations Calgary on your soon-to-be first cycle track! (It leads up to the Peace Bridge, which is faintly visible in the background.)

Chill on Meewasin
A relaxed rider enjoys the picturesque Meewasin trail downtown. The Meewasin trails allow you to travel the full length of the city along both sides of the South Saskatchewan river. A map of Meewasin's trails and facilities can be found here.
Splendid new bicycle parking in front of the Meewasin Valley Centre downtown.

Spring begins with bears and bicycles
A friendly blue roadster that recently awoke from hibernation in Silverspring. According to an old Saskatchewan legend, spring officially begins the day that the first bear emerges from his den with his roadster bicycle. If your bicycle is still asleep in its den, wake it up! Spring is here! :-)
